Vale and the MIT Mining for a New Environment Program

As one of the world’s leading mining corporations, Brazil-based Vale knows that innovation and sustainability are critical to the future of its industry. That’s why the company partnered with MIT Corporate Programs to create a customized training program focused on advancing their strategic priorities—and developing the next generation of leaders.

In collaboration with the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative, 30 early-career professionals at Vale worked on 10 strategic challenges, ranging from decarbonization to circular economy solutions to improving health and safety. The program was delivered in Portuguese with bilingual learning facilitators, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance.
